I'm so glad to hear it too. I've been mostly getting value from the takes that are forward thinking, rather than looking back. And this one was incredibly helpful to me in terms of looking forward. Plus, I'm just so so happy that Charlie seems to be A-OK. I've known him through these health changes the last year plus and he downplays it all when it's happening, so then I get worried all over again when I read a post he submits about the experiences. Seeing it in black and white makes it so much more real than the sweet-natured calming way that Charlie presents it all in person. And speaking of being incredibly on the nose, we here at AJPT all deeply love and want to protect and safeguard Charlie's heart.
Sharon McMahon’s (@Sharonsaysso/The Preamble on Substack) content can be frustratingly rage free in a time when rage-baiting and reactivity just feels so good (haha), but she holds the line on calling on people to act from their better selves and contribute to positive change in small ways. It seems corny because her content doesn’t match the ragey energy of the moment, but it is not trite “we all just need kindness,” either.
I lost my FIL the same day you lost your mom and I remember the feelings that accompanied that time. They DO feel similar. I said to Jon that it felt like a death occurred and here you have it written out so eloquently. I fear that the majority of the people that voted red really don’t understand how the government actually works, how laws are passed, or what the roles of President/VP actually are. I’ll admit I was fairly ignorant to those things and had to learn for myself what all this stuff meant when he was elected the first time. I hope your heart stuff gets figured out and you don’t have to worry about all that soon because we all need your voice.
Thank you for this. I’ve been avoiding any post-election “takes,” and this was the one I actually needed to read.

I came here to say the exact same thing. I, too, have been avoiding the “takes” and I’m so glad I didn’t avoid this one. Thank you, Charlie!
Thanks, Rachel!

Thanks for this recommendation, Meg

Thank you thank you thank you. It warms my (hopefully still mostly functional) heart to read this comment.
