I found a ring underneath a table after an event that I catered so I am giving it to my girlfriend for Christmas. I consider this a very smart move, but I won't ever tell her or anyone that I did it.
Should you at least make a reasonable effort to find its real owner first?

I wonder how many other people besides me read these anonymous confessions every day and realize that we have either done the same things themselves or could absolutely imagine doing each one. Hmmm. I have mixed feelings about this one (though no judgment ever). If she will genuinely like the ring, then why not?
