Let's Put A Real Bush In The Oval Office
This headline will not seem as disrespectful once you read the piece. Go Kamala!
Remember when that was on a bumper sticker for my 2004 Presidential campaign? Well, neither does anyone else. But one of the joys of working with someone you worked with 20 years ago (Esther!) is that they remind you of these projects you did together — many of which you wish you could forget.
Esther showed this to me this morning, a multi-part series we ran in Jane magazine in 2004 where I ran for President [Pink said she’d vote for her! And Britney weighed in. Amazing. -Esther] and it seemed relevant enough to show to you. Because we can now make it happen (for Kamala, not me). So let's all do what we know we need to do as far as calling and canvassing — and if you take a bathroom break while you are doing that, these pages from Jane magazine make me laugh. They also make me sad that 20 years later, we still haven't had a female President. And most obviously, get out there and vote tomorrow, please!
September 2003: “The first thing people say about women in politics is that you are a slut. Then they say you are a lesbian.”
Jan/Feb 2004: Jane’s campaign garnered endorsements and advice from Alicia Keys, Jesse Ventura, Ann Coulter, Donna Brazile, Arianna Huffington, Pink, Britney and so many more. Go figure! “Here’s my strategy for getting young female voters—appeal to their intelligence and treat their concerns with respect.” -Candidate Wesley Clark
A real bush! 😂👏😂👏
So much has changed ... and yet not. Can't wait to vote V tomorrow.
