Charlie, years ago I was in Clark, NJ headed to the supermarket and a Trump parade made us all stop in our tracks. Jeeps were jeeping, flags were flying, and I was truly nervous because these folks had no. filters. Eventually, we were allowed to move on to our respective errands, but the fact that they made us stop to let that shit roll through was not lost on me.

I think that's the thing that pisses me off the most about them in general. The goal seems to be to not only inconvenience you, but to intimidate at the same time. I think that's why I took such heart in people reacting with either nonchalance or by booing/flipping the bird/yelling. It was as if they were looking for a fight and most people just didn't care to engage with anything more than a quick "fuck off."

I love that older gentleman, whoever he is. And I love you for bringing back this hopeful story. Thanks, Charlie!

I live in Florida where I am definitely/obviously in the minority. It's SCARY pulling up next to one of those flag-flying trucks on the road (and it happens often). That older gentleman is my hero!

I'm from Alberta, Canada - so if anyone should know what rolling coal means, it should be me...but I had to look it up :) This reminds me a little of our "freedom fighters" that seemed to spring up here during COVID and beyond - so loud, so "angry" but ultimately and embarrassingly for them, so few. I really hope that is the case down there too.

I think we have more of them down here, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll silence them at the ballot box.
