I've never shared locations with anyone, but the male female difference here makes complete sense to me. And when you described the fear of assault a woman carries all the time, I felt understood. Thanks, Amy!
I disable "Find My Phone" and location stuff for this very reason. I seem to attract men who want to track me and I've watched too many Discovery ID episodes to let that happen.

This rang so true for me! I did not share locations with my ex-husband, even when I traveled alone and even though I had nothing to hide (I don't think he can say the same, but that's the past and all good now). Now that I'm dating, both my sister and my most badass friend can track my phone and watch. I don't even think twice about them being able to see where I am at all times but the thought of trusting a man that way - well, maybe that's why I'm still single. And maybe that's part of the is-he-the-right-guy-for-me analysis: would I share locations with him?
So it’s not just me? And yeah I hear you— like what does it say about me that I would not trust a man (even one I was dating) as much as I’d trust my best friend… it’s just all very interesting. (Also: I hope you’re having fun dating!)

HI VANESSA! Also I know, right??
It really is a small world! Amy, so good to see you here after knowing you at Medium, and I hope to see many more stories from you on AJPT!

This was so much fun to write! now I’m dying to know how other people feel about sharing locations … 😬
"Spy-joy" is brilliant. Can't wait to read your latest book, Amy.
