I want to go on the record here and make sure people don't make the assumption that I'm a morning person, which would be truly shameful, lol. Over the years what I've figured out is that my brain just checks out around 9pm. Anything I write after that will be complete drivel. But at 6am? Mostly legible and only a little drivel-ly.

That sounds like a fair assessment, Charlie. My writing before 9 AM is hallucinogenic.

Hey Jane and Jane’s brother, I’m one of those who had a stack of every single Sassy in my closet for decades and still regret tossing them. At the time I thought it was an all-grown-up move, but no. Shoulda listened to my gut. Anyway, lifetime JP devotee here, and it feels like a comfy sweater to get these newsletters every week. Happy to see Unpoluar Opinion back too, fun! But really, this life hack column is my new fave. Such clever practical ideas and I have put several into practice. This week’s swing hinge idea is going to solve a bathroom door situation that was starting to threaten my sanity. So that’s what finally got me to write to you Jane, after 30 or so years of faithfully reading and thoroughly enjoying your work. Thanks, compliments and all the best to you both!

This comment makes me extra happy, because I couldn't agree more about the credit due my little brother! He is doing something here completely unlike anything he has ever done before and nailing it every single week. I also tell him that I love his writing so much, because it's exactly the way he talks. That's my favorite type of writing always, but it's usually hard to get people to do. I also think he has a way of describing how to do a project that makes it sound so doable – unlike a lot of columns like this that I see, where I'm just too intimidated by the instructions to even try the suggestions. I love Ben so much and I'm so thankful that he is doing this column and so thankful to you for this comment recognizing it. It's a well deserved love fest! Thanks for starting it, Carolyn!

What is your favorite grocery shopping app to share with a spouse/partner? We use quip, but what I really want is:

- Something I can organize by my own (self-defined) categorys

- Show/Hide

- Option to only show items that are unchecked

I've been using OurGroceries forever but I haven't tried the others. Sorry.

Thanks for the question, and sorry I can't help more : )

That's such a good question. Let's find Rachel an answer! If any readers want to weigh in here with their suggestions, great. Otherwise, we can ask around and try to address it in another column.

The lightbulb idea is genius! I have a scary room that you have to cross through in the dark in order to get to the light switch. It even has an exposed bulb. This actually made my day and it's not even 9am where I am. Thanks!!

Just want to appreciate that somehow super-subscriber Heather Marr got in here and liked this post before I did, even though I read all AJPT posts the minute they go live (when I invariably find typos I had missed the other 25 times I read them). How did you do that, Heather? And thanks for liking my little brother's column!

Ben, I love the premise of this week's column so much! It sounds exactly like you when you tell me these things in conversation. Except I actually listen when it's written down here. Thank you for being a great brother and a great writer too!
