But I buried the lede: you never read Moby Dick? For real? Not to literary-shame you, but I used to read that classic to my four-year-old son at bedtime. He didn't get all the underlying drama, of course, but he sure did love hearing about how one person could be so obsessed with a white whale!
I read parts of it, never finished it. I have a real issue with that era of American literature: Melville, Hawthorne, Whitman, etc. I just can't get into their prose. I like the idea of Moby Dick, despise the writing style.
Charlie, I swear to GOD, one of those tin cans parked across the street from my apartment last night, and I was so stunned I took a fuzzy picture I will share with you the next time I see you. Damn thing took up two parking spots. The excess is astounding.
Thank you for making this, I have so many thoughts on it! But mainly thank you for the line about paying obscene amounts of money to advertise what assholes they are. I am extra triggered by Elon Musk because I grew up with an undiagnosed aspie dad and his paranoid ranting was so oppressive - not to throw aspies under the bus, we can also be funny, smart, creative (you're welcome, world, for all the music and fashion and art, so can you stop marginalizing us already?), stylish (and unusually attractive according to Hans Asperger, sorry you didn't get that one Elon, and sorry to everyone else that I went for that low hanging fruit, I just wanted to be mean and I take full accountability for that but I'm still not taking it out) - Anyway, all this to say that I can totally picture my dad coming up with that stupid phrase "woke mind virus" and proudly ranting about it for hours and in our isolated family we just had no choice but to sit dumbly and wait for him to pass out from all the beer he was drinking. My dad was a jerk and I have wasted lots of money on therapy, but at least he isn't a millionaire with the power to influence elections in favor of fascism. Also, I can confirm that the youth are overusing the word "cringe", my 12 year old calls me that multiple times a day.

That's fair. The earnestness in all of that writing is so stilted. But being an English major, I just had to power through it.
The pure glee in your voice in that video is infectious.
