I might still be in the bath room-scrolling with a glass of bourbon, and I will definitely stop by the chat

It's really nice that you did this. I had to stay off media until the counting was over, I didn't think I could handle the stress of watching votes come in.

I am 6 hours ahead, and you are all hopefully getting some sleep. But I wanted to float this idea - since Jane is BFF with Michael Stipe, how about mobilizing his fan base to boycott amazon? Bezos still owns 10% and if this was done en masse could make a statement about free press (losing that is step #1 to fascism (well, no, Jane, I think voting for someone publicly promising fascism was probably step #1). Right, thanks, Jane. Also boycott X formerly known as twitter - cancel accounts there en masse, those in the income bracket to buy Tesla, don't do it (also see Charlie's excellent article shaming those who would go for the cybertruck).

For context, I read this article "Against School" many years ago and it has stayed with me, it's about how the right designed a horrible education system to breed an apathetic crop of mindless consumers/voters. Considering that, maybe we need to be way more activist in our consuming. Link to that the article at the bottom - my 2 cents is that yes, the right got what they wanted, but I don't think they expected the masses to then get hijacked by extremists (for more on that google David Frum, speechwriter to Bush jr and author of a book called Dead Right that my dad gave me one year for Christmas because I was too liberal for his taste - after the 2016 election Frum turned around and wrote a piece for the Atlantic about how badly the right had screwed up). Anyway, that article about education feels like a small part of an answer to the big WHY that so many of us are asking right now. https://www.everettsd.org/cms/lib07/WA01920133/Centricity/Domain/947/ENG.Against%20school.pdf
