I am going to do exactly as you suggested and walk around my neighborhood playing this tonight. I can't wait and will report back.
I wonder how I would have reacted differently to the guy who without warning threw a trashcan at me on the street yesterday if I had been in the proper state. I have also been hit over the head with a plastic bottle recently and touched by someone else in the park saying they were giving me Covid – which I think was kind of a dated line.)
That was a sad digression and I love this piece and your writing and your captions so much. Thank you, Ani!
Dear God - this is giving really bad indie film so you are halfway there. Was your hair washed? Maybe you need to go a few more days to have these read as metaphors instead of horrifying encounters that I'm sorry happened to you.
I love this and can't wait to hear your playlist! Please do the lipstick article - I think you'd like my old favorite - cut me some slack I was only a teen with no money - my friend and I were obsessed with this deep dark wet & wild lipstick (is that still a thing? we used to get it at CVS) I want to say it was #599 but I can't remember, deep like your burgundy in the pic but with a bit more brown (though it didn't read too brown on the lip) so you ended up looking like a silent movie star - not exactly what you're going for but I think it would look killer on you seeing your style in the photos. I really love your writing!!!
Is the lipstick you’ve been searching Revlon Raisin Rage? I put it on and I swear I’m in your playlist…stealing my older sisters clothes…pining over Jordan Catalano.
you did NOT just solve all of my problems in one comment?!?!?! I think that is the EXACT color I’m looking for!! I’m throwing all the blessings at you and wishing you every beautiful thing for eternity! (Also same af to Jordan) - you are iconic and thank you✨
I am right there with you re: ADD trying to meditate. At least I have Asperger’s (ASD) on the other side of my brain, really fighting to make me get something done. ASD vs ADD - GO: autistic me sees every speck of dust on the floor while I try and sit to meditate and ADD is like - "YES! DUST BAD! GO! CLEAN IT! ANYTHING BUT SITTING HERE.” And the autism is like, “No, there are rules here, and you HAVE to sit still”. ASD usually wins. But after 20 years of this fight and no ego-death experience to show for it, I think I’m ready for psilocybin but what if that re-traumatizes my system, is that a thing? Adyashanti claims if you let go too fast that can happen, but this belongs in a comment on your other piece.
Anyway, school was a nightmare.
ASD was like, “Hey Jane, let’s not just study for the anatomy test, let’s sit down and memorize the entire functional anatomy textbook, that would be such a fun way to spend the weekend.”
ADD was like, “giiiirl, sit still? hell no, you have to vacuum the kitchen right now and look at the fingerprints on the light switch, you need to clean that up.” (You see how sneaky? She preys on ASD’s weakness - needing to control the chaos of the outer world by cleaning constantly - losing battle by the way)
ASD: “no, you have a test, you can’t vacuum until you’ve studied for 30 minutes.”
ADD: "you suck. FINE. As long as I get a prize.”
Who knew, you can get a hit of dopamine off vacuuming…

I love that about Covid attacks = dated line - AJPT should have a separate section for those of us who can't keep our comments on task!
I'm so in!
Obsessed with this -- and I need to let my angsty self come out and rock sometimes.
Yessssssss! Throw out your dry shampoo, perfect that thousand-yard stare into the void, and press play my friend.
Do it, Corynne!
